Moira Deeming MP - Fire Rescue Victoria, Vaccine injured firefighters, Human rights

During adjournment matters in the Victorian Legislative Council, Moira Deeming MP for Western Metropolitan region directed her question to the Emergency Services Minister Jaclyn Symes.

Moira raised the issue that Commonwealth Firefighters based at Melbourne airport, perform the exact same role as Victorian firefighters just minutes down the road — yet they’ve NEVER had mandatory Covid-19 vaccination requirements placed upon them in order to work and be paid their wages.

Additionally, Mrs Deeming raised the issue of report of an individual firefighter return to duty after a serious vaccine-injury due to his compliance with Fire Rescue Victoria’s 2 and a half year mandate. The circumstances of his return involve concessions made in light of his human rights being ‘afforded’ to him — whilst up to 50 FRV firefighters remain sidelined due to the mandate.
